Welcome back to school, and a warm welcome to UCLA's Class of 2027! The upcoming years are poised to be a time of remarkable transformation in your lives, and one of the most important things you'll embark upon is finding yourself. College is an opportunity to explore your own interests, passions, and values. It's a chance to delve into subjects you're curious about, to participate in activities that light a fire within you, and to pave the path towards the person you aspire to become. Don't shy away from trying new things and pursuing what genuinely excites you.

And of course, we’re biased towards you becoming more involved in Aviation 😉. Aviation encompasses so many things. Have you ever (1) peeked into the flight deck on an airplane (and wondered if that could be you one day) (2) flown a drone around and taken pictures from 400 feet in the sky? (3) thought about why airplanes fly and pigs can’t?

Our club has two tracks:

  • Anyone is welcome to join our meetings / socials and make some awesome friends!

  • If you’re looking to go further and actually get a pilot’s license (I know, it sounds crazy), we’ve got you covered. Our founding members are student and private pilots, flying out of the airports near UCLA - Santa Monica, Van Nuys and Whiteman in particular.

What does Bruin Aviation do?

In short, anything and everything to do with aviation.

  • Our weekly general meetings involve aviation-themed workshops, guest speakers and a chance to meet some cool people who share your passion for aviation

  • We organize aviation-themed socials - past ones have included visiting air shows and aviation museums

  • We fly. Several of our members are private pilots and student pilots (and you can be too)

  • We try our best to open spare seats on our flights. On our slack channel, #upcoming-flights, we’ll post if there’s an open seat, so you can experience the joy of flying over LA (beats the traffic on the 405)

What if I want to get a pilot’s license myself?

We’ve got several resources to help you, including

  • Workshops from members, covering the theory and knowledge you need to get flying.

  • Partnerships with local flight schools, offering exclusive discounts to club members looking to get flying.

  • Information about scholarships and programs, in case you’re looking to make a career out of this
